It has been a thrilling time for all of us at Magnetite. Australia’s Katie Kelly won the first para-triathlon gold medal at the sports debut at the Paralympics in Rio.  Along with her guide Michellie Jones, Katie Kelly crossed the finish line 1 minute and 2 second ahead of their British rivals.
Katie Kelly makes history winning first paratriathlon gold in Rio

Katie, who has tunnel-vision and minimal hearing due to Usher Syndrome, was attached to her guide by a tether on the 750m swim, 20km bike ride and a 5 km run. The race was held on Sunday 11th September at Copacabana beach.

Eight months ago, Katie shared her story and dream to go to Rio at the Magnetite Annual Conference. Her challenge was incredible and that motivated all of us at Magnetite to tackle each day with a renewed appreciation of what we have. Inspired by her drive, Magnetite hopped on board with Katie in her quest for a spot on the Paralympic team in Rio. Magnetite happily came to the table as a financial supporter, providing funding towards the cost of Katie’s road races Rio.

Today, her epic journey has brought her to be Australia’s first para-triathlon gold medallist. Share in the joy and watch the highlights of Katie’s race in Rio: https://www.7live.com.au/#/triathlon-katie-kelly-claims-pt5-gold
