• Why do you use acrylic instead of glass?

    Acrylic has much better insulation properties than glass so gives an excellent solution for thermal insulation and soundproofing. In fact, Magnetite's acrylic panels only let through 1/6 the heat of glass. Acrylic is stronger and safer than glass and it blocks out the sun's harmful UV rays. We also offer secondary glass windows through our Soundtite range.
  • Will Magnetite work with my window?

    Yes. Our solutions are customised to suit your specific needs and requirements. This means that our systems can fit any shape or style of window.
  • Is the acrylic safe to use?

    Yes. Acrylic is 18 times stronger than glass and it will not shatter. Magnetite acrylic panels have a UV inhibitor built into them. This will stop the harmful UV rays from fading curtains or furniture and keep you safe.
  • Does your acrylic yellow or craze?

    No. Magnetite uses only optical grade acrylic. This means that there is no styrene, which causes low cost plastic sheeting to change colour in the sun. What you see through your window now is what you will see with your Magnetite window installed.
  • How do I clean my Magnetite windows?

    Cleaning is simple. Using a soft cloth or chamois the Magnetite panels can be easily cleaned with an acrylic cleaner or a mild detergent (3% in lukewarm water). You do not need to struggle to clean between the window panels. All your Magnetite panels are completely removable making cleaning easy. Looked after your Magnetite windows will give you years of savings and comfort.
  • How long will the magnetic seal last?

    We used rubberised magnets similar to the magnets in your fridge door. With over 90% iron oxide it is able to with stand bangs and extreme temperature. In short, the magnet will last for the life of your home and its durability is supported by our 7-year warranty.
  • What if I prefer a glass panel?

    Our Soundtite, secondary aluminium system is fabricated with laminated glass. The system can be designed to slide horizontally or vertically to match your existing window or door function and design. All panels can slide for ease of cleaning and operation.   • Can I still use my window?

    Yes. All our secondary glazing systems are fully operational and easy to use. They can either slide or be removed for ease of access for fresh air. The Magnetite retrofit double glazing uses magnets, similar to those used in a fridge door, to create an air tight seal when closed. While, Soundtite can be designed to slide horizontally or vertically to match the existing aluminium window or door function and design.
  • Can you tint my windows?

  • What does Magnetite (secondary glazing system) look like after installation?

    All our systems are designed to cause minimal impact on the visual aspects of your home. Magnetite's slim line framing and colour range means that it blends into your existing window. Aside from the savings and comfort you will not even notice Magnetite windows are installed. Because the look of your existing window is maintained, Magnetite is approved by most body corporate and strata developments. Our Soundtite, secondary glazing system is installed on the inside on the building and the frames can be matched to the existing windows or doors, ensuring minimal impact on the appearance of the building’s exterior.     Our product comes with 7 years’ warranty on workmanship. For that reason, we offer supply & install only.
  • How much noise can you block out?

    Our systems can reduce up to 70% of noise coming through the windows. It is important to understand that a room has other building elements that can let in unwanted noise. For example, wall vents and leaky doors are two other sources of noise penetration. We can easily address these two areas for you as part of our noise reduction solution. In addition, you may need to consider the construction of the walls, ceilings and floors and the level of acoustic insulation in these elements. For the best soundproofing results a holistic approach is recommended.
  • How much heat/cold you can reduce?

    Our Magnetite system can improve glazing performance up to 70%. While windows are a major source of heat loss and gain in a room, there are other considerations to ensuring you create a healthy and comfortable living environment. Draughty windows and doors are other areas we can address for you. Properly insulated roofs, walls and floors are also important factors to consider in maintaining the temperature in a room. Adequate ventilation will also help improve the quality of air and help reduce excessive moisture and mould build up. For the best results a holistic approach is recommended.
  • How long does it take to install the system?

    Installation generally takes few hours, depending on number of windows. As our windows are custom made to fit your existing windows and doors, please allow up to 5 weeks for production.
