In 2018, 9.2 million overseas tourists visited Australia and it is projected to grow over 10 million this year. The rich art, multiculturalism and food not to mention the pristine beaches and amazing weather have provided a sensational experience for both local and international travellers for decades. The increasing number of tourists offers an enormous opportunity for the hospitality industry, creating a strong demand in Australia’s accommodation sector.

“Creating excellent customer experience” is one of key objectives for the hospitality industry, specifically for hotels. As customers' standard for "excellent experiences" is now higher than ever, it is not just a matter of free Foxtel or location that creates an excellent customer experience. Many hotels in busy major Australian cities such as Sydney, Perth or Melbourne have to contend with noise complaints from their customers, a by product of that excellent location. Noise from traffic, trains or passers-by can have negative impacts on customers sleep and comfort and can result in poor online reviews. As such, soundproofing has become one of the essential feature to look at when refurbishing or upgrading hotel rooms.
New Year’s Resolution for Your Home

New Year’s Resolution for Your Home

And just like that, it’s 2019! Ringing in the New Year has always been an exciting time – the energy shifts, the promise and hope of the better year ahead and of course, the New Year’s resolutions. As we come to the first month of year, it is time to make a plan to improve not just yourself but also your home – a place where you’ll spend most of your year. Here are some New Year’s resolutions for your home to make it more comfortable in 2019.

Declutter and organise
Declutter and organise sound like a daunting task but you may have heard this theory, a clear home is a clear mind. If you haven’t already watched Marie Kondo’s Tidying Up on Netflix, you need to go home and watch it asap. It’s not hard to see why this series has been inspiring many people to start declutter and organise their home. Start with sorting out your stuff and free up more space. If the item is rarely used or you even forgot that you have them, it’s time to let it go. Set up donation box and give items away to those who may need them. Utilise organisational drawers, shelves or basket to keep everything tidy. Once everything is done, create a regular cleaning and organising schedule to prevent future cluttering.

Insulate your windows
Whether it is summer or winter, windows are one of biggest contributors to heat loss or heat gain – which make your home too hot in summer or too cold in winter. Insulating windows can reduce heat or cold coming through, making your home more comfortable all year round. Moreover, window insulation also reduces unwanted noise such traffic, nearby construction or loud neighbour’s conversation coming through - keeping your sanctuary quiet. Lastly, well insulated windows means less heat escaping in winter, which help to save on your heating cost. Few types of window insulation to consider: window film, curtains or shades, double glazing or secondary glazing.

Go Green
Living comfortable doesn’t have to cost the earth. Based on your budget, you can make the changes around your home to do your part in helping the planet. It can be as simple as recycling household goods, reduce waste that will end up in landfill or installing energy efficient appliances. Energy efficiency also means savings on your energy bills. So, you’re not just reducing carbon footprint but also putting more money in your pocket.
