About Magnetite
Magnetite specialises in providing acoustic and thermal insulation for existing windows and doors. Our double glazing systems have been independently tested by the National Acoustic Laboratories and the Window Energy Rating Scheme (WERS) in line with National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) regulations.
Magnetite initially went to the market as a single product business. The business Magnetite was named after the product Magnetite. Magnetite is an innovative technology that converts your existing single glazing into the performance of double glazing without the mess of replacement windows or doors.
Over the years, the focus of the business became about solving problems as opposed to selling a product. This has led us to add other secondary glazing systems to our range such as Soundtite – secondary aluminium window system, Solartite – window tinting and Sealtite – weather & acoustic window seals. Our range enables us to Assess, Design and Deliver the best possible double glazing solution across a wide range of glazing in homes or offices.
Our purpose is captured in our motto: ADD Comfort. By prioritising Comfort, Magnetite has built a strong reputation in acoustic and thermal solutions for residential and commercial buildings across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. With extensive knowledge and experience assessing glazing requirements, we customise glazing solutions to achieve the best results for our customers.
The Magnetite Story
1995
Who’s Ben Lafleur
A young Canadian arrived in Australia with a dream of competing in the 2000 Olympics. Unfortunately, his path didn’t lead to the Games.
1997
Meet Ken Foster
While on a trip to Boston, Ben met Ken Foster, an energy physicist who had developed Magnetite at the MIT Innovation Centre. This invention would soon become the foundation for a business dedicated to improving the insulation and comfort of homes and offices.
1998
Magnetite Australia Established
Ben and his younger brother took a bold step, establishing a company to bring Magnetite to Australia. Their journey in the glazing industry began modestly, operating out of the garage of an old house in Ashfield, NSW, where they worked tirelessly to introduce Australians to the benefits of retrofit double glazing.
2002
Franchise Network Started
Ben saw an opportunity to expand the business and decided that it’s time to deliver Magnetite to other part of Australia through franchising. Adelaide & Wollongong were one of the first Magnetite franchise.
2005
1000 installations
Completed 1000 Installations and moved to the premise in Marrickville. Magnetite won its first major nolse abatement project for Sydney’s M7.
2009
Australian Business Awards
Magnetite won not one but two of its first awards, for the Best Value Product and Service Excellent. Magnetite also landed its first thermal retrofit project for Orange City Council.
2012
Product Range Expansion
Through consistent R&D, Magnetite developed and aadd new products to its acoustic & thermal insulation, including Magnetite Easyglide, Soundtite secondary aluminium system and Solartite window films.

Mental Health Awareness
Magnetite has proudly supported Movember for many years, helping to raise awareness for men’s health issues, including depression and prostate cancer. With a significant number of male team members, this cause holds special meaning for us. Championing Resilience and Excellence
Magnetite is proud to support athletes like Katie Kelly, who continue to inspire with their resilience and dedication. Born with hearing loss and later diagnosed with Usher Syndrome, Katie achieved gold in Paratriathlon at Rio 2016. While the 2021 Paralympics have passed, our commitment to supporting individuals striving for excellence remains strong.
Recycling Materials
As a member of Ecospecifier and Green Smart, Magnetite is committed to sustainability. We have an internal recycling plan for our materials and extend this initiative to customers, ensuring old windows are reused or recycled instead of ending up in landfill.
