The Challenge
Magnetite Perth had originally installed retrofit double glazing for this client in 4 of her 1950's apartments on a busy road in Nedlands. The home suffered from an unhealthy dose of annoying traffic noise, particularly in the bedroom and living areas. The windows and doors were double glazed with the combination of the Magnetite Classic and Slider designs, both holding 10mm thick acoustic window panels. Delighted with the result, we were asked to assess the windows in her new property, a contemporary 2 storey house in Swanborne. Again located on a busy suburban road, noise was an issue in the bedrooms, though it extended to passage and void areas. Apart from traffic noise during the day, noise from the neighbour's air conditioning was also a concern.

The Works
For her Swanborne property, we installed 10mm Magnetite acoustic panels onto 3 large aluminium sliding doors, creating an air cavity of 70-90 mm to provide the maximum noise reduction from both traffic and her neighbour's A/C unit. A landing window was fitted with 10mm Magnetite Easyglide system and a further passage and stairs void area completes the project, providing relief and quiet comfort in the home.

Dollars and Sense
The installation of Magnetite's retrofit double glazing system has helped to improve the level of comfort in both of her properties. The client was once again very pleased with the result.
